Perhaps someone you know is special and you can’t put your finger on why? Your child or a child you teach might think, behave and talk like an adult, or show other skills beyond their age. Sometimes we may use the word ‘gifted’ to describe these children.
If so, we are here to help.
The CHIP Centre Geelong supports Children of Higher Intellectual Potential (CHIP), their families and schools through identification, counselling, enrichment workshops and parent information sessions. We are accredited service providers for the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) in the areas of assessment and professional development.
The CHIP Family Support Group Geelong Inc. (CHIP FSGG) is an incorporated group of families with gifted children living in the greater Geelong region. Our volunteer committee runs workshops each month to create a stimulating environment where our children can meet others their age who are ‘like minded’. We also run CHIP Forums with guest speakers so that families and teachers can meet to learn about hot topics and discuss similar experiences. We also support a MicroCHIP playgroup for families with young children who may be CHIP or siblings of CHIP.
CHIP Forum – Gifted Education Series
Gifted children are at risk of flying under the radar. They easily achieve milestones, so we misunderstand their special learning needs. We invite parents, teachers and early childhood workers to learn more about giftedness at our CHIP Forums, which are held twice-yearly. Attendance certificates are available on request for teachers and student teachers (student discounts apply).
